Rawalpindi: Sialkot stallions defeated Karachi dolphins by 8 wickets in the final of the Faysal Bank Super 8 T20 Cup 2012 at Rawalpindi cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi, ultimately winning the tournament for the seventh time.
The stallions easily chased the target 168 of runs in the 18th over for the loss of two wickets. Shoaib Malik who scored 62 runs remained the leading run-scorer from the stallions side along with Haris Sohail 55 runs and Imran Nazir 41 runs.
The Karachi Dolphins’ bowlers failed to stop the blustering innings of stallions’ batsmen at any moment during the innings. Except Faraz Ahmed who took one wicket the other bowlers from the Dolphins failed to grab any wicket.
Earlier due to the blustering innings of 81 by Khalid Latif helped the Dolphins to set a target of 168 runs.
Ceremony of the final:
Chairman PCB Zaka Ashrar distributed gold medals to the match officials of the tournament.
The cermony was also attended by Australian High Commisioner Tim George along with representatives of Faysal Bank, Geo television and cricket organiser of Sialkot region.
President of Faysal Bank Naveed.A.Khan along with PCB Chairman awarded winning trophy to Shoaib Malik, captain of Sialkot Stallions, while gold medals were also distributed among the players of the winning team.
Naveed.A. Khan also awarded the runner-up trophy to losing side captain Mohammad Sami.
The most fours hit by a batsmen in the match award was jointly shared by Khalid Latif of Karachi Dolphins and Shoaib Malik of Sialkot Stallions.
Khalid Latif was also awarded with Best batsmen of the tournament, leading run-scorer of the tournament and most sixes scored in the the match awards.
While Shoaib Malik also gathered two more awards including Man of the Match award and Best fielder of the tournament.
Shakeel Ansar was awarded best wicket-keeper of the tournament.
