Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has declared agreements of Rental Power Projects illegal and ordered The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to take legal action against former Water and Power Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf.
The apex court announced its verdict on Friday into RPPs corruption case reserved in December last year.It observed that WAPDA,PEPCO and other generation companies inflicted heavy losses to national exchequer while NEPRA had also not carry out its functions.
The court also ordered closure of all the rental power plants. It said all the accused were liable to criminal and civil proceedings.
The court said that a large scale corruption was carried out in rental power projects.It further said that elected representatives should play their role
