Sana’a: A bomb blast hit a camp belonging to Yemen’s Republican Guard troops in the southwest of the country, media reports said on Saturday.
According to the media reports, a bomber smashed his explosives-laden car into the camp in Bayda, 170 km southwest of the capital, Sana’a.
The three-storey building of the camp was completely destroyed and that there were “casualties” in the attack.
The explosion was followed by an exchange of fire between gunmen and security forces.
The attacked Republican Guard units were headed by the son of Yemen’s Ali Abdullah Saleh who formally stepped down less than a week ago.
