Kabul: Demonstrators took to the streets in various parts of Afghanistan on Wednesday in a second day of protests after US troops burned copies of the Quran.
In northeastern Kabul, about 400 to 500 people rallied while in the western part of the city, university students marched toward the parliament building.
Protesters burned tires and threw rocks outside Camp Phoenix, close to the Kabul International Airport,
In Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, hundreds rallied chanting “Down with America.”
Gen. John Allen, commander of NATO’s International Security Assistance Force offered his apologies and issued a directive that all coalition forces in Afghanistan will undergo training no later than March 3 so they can identify religious materials and handle them correctly.
On Tuesday, Quran, a Muslim holy book was burned in a pile of garbage at a U.S. military base in Afghanistan which had aggravated the people of Afghanistan.
