Islamabad: Babar Awan on Monday submitted his reply in contempt of court case. He filed his response through his lawyer Zafar Ali.
He contended that his client never meant to ridicule the Supreme Court. He said the court did not initiate contempt proceeding against several lawyers who wrote articles against the judges of the apex court.
Ali argued that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had termed SC judges as Jialas and said he would throw away the Jialas.
He said that Mr Babar Awan had only asked that the government was not listened by the apex court during memogate case. Babar Awan tendered apology for his remarks against the SC judge Justice Asif Saeed Khosa.
Babar Awan in his rejoinder regretted that his press conference was taken as contempt of court.
Justice Ijaz Afzal remarked that the court could accept criticism but would not tolerate contempt.
