Karachi: Chief Secretary Sindh Raja Muhammad Abbas has emphasized upon the Antiquities Department to ensure appropriate preservation of Physical Heritage of the archaeological monuments in the Province. He advised the Administrative Secretaries to Coordinate with Antiquities Department, to this effect.
He was presiding the first meeting of the management Board for Antiquities Physical Heritage of Sindh which has been constituted in scientific and technical management of the Physical heritage of the Province.
In view of strengthening the Board, it was decided that Secretaries of Auqaf, Culture and Finance would also be included in the Board.
Presentation regarding the heritage sites located in various districts, was also given, including the historical monuments of Makli, Hyderabad, Badin, Dadu, Larkana, Ghotki, Khairpur, Jacobabad and Manghopir (Karachi).
The Secretary Antiquities informed in the briefing that training in conservational Engineering & Architecture is being imported with the specific reference of stone cutting & carving and traditional massonary.
Raja Abbas asked the Board Secretariat to constitute a Technical Committee comprising the representatives of Antiquities, Culture, Auqaf and other respective Departments, to visit the monuments/arch. sites and submit reports, within a fortnight.
The meeting was attended by the Secretaries Kalimullah Lashari (IPC), Waseem Ursani (Antiquities), Dr. Asma Ibrahim and other eminent archaeologists, Musicologists and conservationists.
