Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has reserved its verdict on maintainability of multiple pleas into memogate controversy.
The verdict was reserved after all the parties completed their argument.
During the hearing, Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that basic human rights are imposed by the state and if it fails the court could issue orders in this regard.
The remarks came as the nine-member bench of the apex court resumed hearing into memogate case.
The CJ asked Nawaz’ Sharif’s Counsel Rashid A Rizvi to give argument on how the basic human rights were affected by the memo.
Rizvi contended that basic human right of whole the nation was affected due to the memo as according to Article 2-A it was basic right of a citizen to live with dignity and respect in the country.
The CJ said that the court was not going to fix responsibility on anyone. He asked whether there was government’s complicity in the memo. Rizvi said that it could be ascertained after investigation.
