Cairo: The death toll from clashes between protestors and security forces Egypt rose to eight, with 299 others injured, the health ministry said on Saturday.
According to reports, the clashes erupted in front of the cabinet and parliament buildings on early Friday and lasted almost the whole day. Protestors tried to storm into the buildings, set fire to cars and part of the buildings.
Since November, hundreds of protestors have launched an open- ended sit-in at the cabinet premises to reject the newly-formed Kamal el-Ganzouri government.
This was the worst violence after a relatively calm period with the start of the landmark parliamentary vote on Nov. 28.
