Islamabad: Pakistan’s former ambassador to the US Husain Haqqani has contacted lawyers to file a defamation case against the US magazine ‘Newsweek/Daily Beast’ for alleged claim that he had the prior knowledge of Osama bin Laden (OBL) raid and that he was involved in the memo scandal, on Wednesday.
Famous Washington lawyers, Attorneys Barentzen and Webster will be representing Haqqani in matter arising from false media claims about his prior knowledge of US OBL raid.
The Daily Beast published an article written by US based businessman Mansoor Ijaz claiming that Haqqani knew about the Abbottabad operation to target Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
Ijaz, in his article, also alleged that the then ambassador Husain Haqqani was also involved in the controversial memo sent to Adm Mike Mullen.
Haqqani, in a letter sent to the editor of Newsweek/Daily Beast, rejected all the allegations levied against him by Mansoor Ijaz and termed them as “reckless, baseless and false”.
