Karachi: Three Taliban militants, including a Commander of Punjabi Mujahideen, were killed in alleged police operation in Korangi area of Karachi on Monday night.
Karachi police claimed that the accused were kidnappers of local businessmen.
According to police sources, leader of kidnappers was Ameer (Commander) of Punjabi Mujahideen Shahid Khan. The identity of the other two is yet to be ascertained. The bodies have been shifted to the Jinnah Hospital.
Police sources have said that these three had demanded ransom of 60 million Rupees after kidnapping Riaz Chenoy, a local businessmen. At the tip of informer Anti Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) and Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) have conducted the operation. Two police officials have been injured. Seven hand grenades, three TT pistols and explosives have been recovered hidden in pressure cookers.
Police said Shahid Khan was resident of Gulshan e Hadeed area of Karachi and graduate of Karachi University.
