Islamabad: Renowned lawyer and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Aitzaz Ahsan has said that Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s statement regarding memo issue should be taken positively.
Talking to media here on Friday, he said parliament‘s effective role still exists into the memogate case despite the issue has been taken to the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
He said that the prime minister was an honourable man. Ahsan said that head of the parliamentary committee on the national security was also an honest person and the committee’s finding could be shared with the SC.
He said that probe commissions were found after consultations with the federation in the past. He added that the Attorney General was representing the federation on Thursday.
The veteran lawyer who played a key role in restoring deposed judges said had the executive played an effective role in overseeing memo controversy, there would have been no SC meddling into the issue.
He said that when the people got frustrated over the government they sought courts’ help.
