Paris: Cellphone maker Nokia plans to introduce a tablet that runs on Microsoft’s Windows operating system in the mid of 2012.
In an interview, the head of Nokia France Paul Amsellem confirmed that they will be launching a Windows 8 powered tablet next year. Infact, he went one further and suggested that it would launch in the mid of 2012.
Nokia has said using Microsoft Windows 8 for tablets could be an interesting opportunity for the company but it has not yet unveiled any launch plans.
The tablet would compete with Apple’s iPad. “In June 2012, we will have a tablet that runs on Windows 8,” Paul Amsellem told the newspaper.
In the past Nokia have launched a number of Internet Tablets including the Nokia 770 and Nokia 800, but this will be first full-factor tablet they’ve produced.
