Karachi: Samsung Electronics has now launched ‘GALAXY – Y, an innovative smartphone customized to suit the communication needs and budget of the youth. The Samsung S5360 Galaxy Y promises the Android experience at a bargain. Its highly economical price means that a kid’s first cell phone can be a smartphone.
The youthful device includes most of the cutting-edge features of the Samsung Galaxy-S range, delivering a powerful smartphone performance. It is easy to handle with sleek dimensions (102.9 x 57.9 x 12.2 mm) and light weight (96.8 grams). The device features a 3” TFT touchscreen with QVGA resolution. It also has a 3.5mm audio jack and a MicroUSB port.
The CPU is an ARMv6 unit, which provides wi-Fi, GPS, a solid browser and a doc viewer. The Galaxy Y features a 2 Mega Pixel camera along with a loudspeaker, a 1200mAh Li-Ion battery and access to the microSD card. It can run the Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread with TouchWiz 3.0, which brings it in step with the latest Android phones. The Galaxy Y phonebook also supports Facebook, Twitter and MySpace.
It has an on-screen QWERTY keyboard, along with a preloaded Swype keyboard. Its 2 MP camera also offers geotagging, smile shot, image effects and scenes. Moreover, the Android Market also offers plenty of games, handy tools and productivity apps for the Galaxy Y users.
