No play was possible in the pre-lunch session due to rain. Sri Lanka batted for 3.2 overs after resuming the day at 164-5.
Pakistan need to get the target in 61 overs with all 10 wickets in hand.
Pakistan lead the three-test series 1-0, having won the second test by nine wickets in Dubai. The first test in Abu Dhabi ended in a draw.
