Islamabad: Pakistan Railways Minister Ghulam Ahmed Bilour has announced resignation citing degradation by the government.
During a session of the federal cabinet, Bilour accused the fiancé ministry of delaying on the issues of funds for the railways. He said that he had enough humiliation and could not carry on as minister railways.
The railways minister said he has never been disgraced as much as he has been since taking over the railways.
It’s the second time the railway minister, who is accused of derailing the railways financially, has talked of resigning. He didn’t resign the last time he made a similar announcement weeks ago.
Pakistan Railways is said to be in dire straits as trains continue to stay behind schedule due to proclaimed non-availability of engines and diesel, while rail pensioners and staff is without payments for months now.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister Pakistan has called a special meeting on the railways crises after protest by Bilour.
