Lahore: Former captain of Pakistan cricket team, Shahid Afridi has said that he is ready to play cricket for national teamĀ as a player or captain.
Talking to media, after a meeting with Chairman, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Zaka Ashraf, Afridi said that meeting with the PCB chief was positive and he had given him the confidence which was very vital for any player.
“selecting a player is the responsibility of acting chief selector Mohammad Ilyas and i am waiting for the decision about the inclusion in the team,” he said.
He termed the captaincy of national team as āQurbani ka Bakraā (escape goat).
Afridi has agreed with the new proposal of the PCB chief regarding the different coaches for batting, fielding and bowling departments.
Afridi said that Misbah-ul-Haq supported him at every step when he was captain. He said that the current performance of cricket team was really satisfying.
on a question, Afridi said that the decision of spot fixing was really disappointed and said that it was a sad day for their (players) families and the entire nation.
Earlier, Chairman (PCB) had summoned acting Chief Selection Mohammad Ilyas during the meeting with Shahid Afridi.
