Islamabad: Federal Minister for Pakistan Railways Ghulam Ahmed Bilour has said that Finance Ministry was responsible for the death of old pensioner who lost his life during his efforts to receive his pension.
The minister also announced a compensation of Rs.500,000 for the bereaved family of Muhammad Mehmood, 80, resident of Lahore. He said that had the finance ministry issued payments in time, the incident would not have taken place.
Thousands of railways former employees have been waiting for the payment of pension since Tuesday morning. The old citizens also spent night outside the National Bank of Pakistan in the hope of getting money early in the morning.
