Karachi: At least five people including the main accused of Sher Shah tragedy were shot dead in separate shooting incident in Karachi on Monday, police said.
According to the police unidentified gunmen riding a bike opened indiscriminate on the vehicle of Sub-Inspector, Criminal Investigation Department, Aashiq Khoso, within the limits of Zaman Town police station in Chakra Goth area of Korangi.
As a result, an eight-year-old child Mohammad Ali Phalpoto and an unidentified man died in the assault while three people including the driver of Khoso were injured in the shootout.
The injured were rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center for treatment.
According to the police the unidentified man was later identified as Abdul Hameed Baloch alias Mulla Raju. Raju was one of the main nominated accused of Sher Shah incident.
According to The News Tribe correspondent, Raju was the main member of Liyari gang war and he was nominated to police in dozens of criminal cases.
Government had set Rs 3 lakhs head money for his arrest.
Business activities were closed in the area as fear and panic gripped the area soon after the incident. Korangi Road has also been blocked for transport.
Law enforcing agencies arrested 54 suspected persons from Korangi No 1 and Zaman Town during the late night search operation.
Meanwhile, two people were gunned down in Shorab Goth and Keamari.
In another incident, unidentified armed men shot dead a 30-year-old man Shhazad Khan in North Nazimabad.
Police have arrested a target killer Noman alias Nomi. The arrested accused was involved in several target killing incident.
