Istanbul: An earthquake of magnitude 7.6 on Richter Scale jolted the northeast of Turkey on Sunday.
According to the American Geological Survey, the epicenter of the earthquake was 35 kilometer away from Van city and 94.5 kilometer deep.
Any loss of life was not reported immediately, but officials said they were trying to get information if anybody was hurt or killed in the quake. The area where the quake has hit is a thinly-populated region.
