Perth: Australia outclassed Pakistan though a close encounter by 3-2 and register their first victory in the International Super Series, the new Hockey 9s format, at the Perth Hockey Stadium, Western Australia on Thursday.
Mark Peterson scored the first goal for Australia in the 6th minute of first half, while Turner Glenn make the second goal for host team in the 8th minute.
Pakistan’s skipper Sahkeel Abbasi build a hope for Pakistan in very next minute with good move and make first goal for Pakistan. Green shirts level the score 2-2 in the 10 minute when green shirts got the penalty corner and Abdul Haseem Khan put the ball in the goal post.
Pakistan missed the two chances in first half against Australia to get the edge when green shirts got penalty corner in 12th and 13th minute but players are failed to make goal.
After the match was locked at 2-2, Australian captain Cronk Toni through the ball in the goal post in the 15th minute and make the difference in the match with the score of 3-2.
Shakeel Abbasi said that his young team played match positively which help us in the next matches adding that there are always pressure on young players but if we seen the performance against host Australia that is satisfactory.
He said the match against India are always important for us and we will show our best in this format of hockey to defeat them.
