Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday upheld the Sindh High Court verdict in Wage Board Award case and directed the newspapers’ owners to ensure implementation of the verdict.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry dismissed the plea of All Pakistan Newspaper Association (APNS), challenging the SHC verdict and ruled that the Wage Board Award be implemented as it was according to the Constitution.
A division bench of the SHC, comprising Chief Justice Mushir ALam and Justice Aqeel Abassai had rejected the applications filed by the owners of newspapers, challenging implementation of seventh Wage Board Award.
In 2002, the owners decided to challenge implementation of Wage Board Award announced by the tripartite commission for the Wage Board Award’s implementation.
