Islamabad: The last ruler of Chital State, Saif ul Mulk Nasir, passed away here on Tuesday in Islamabad due to cardiac arrests. He was 61.
He left behind two sons, Shahzada Fateh ul-Mulk Ali Nasir and Shahzada Hammad ul-Mulk Nasir and two daughters.
Born in May 12, 1950, Saif ul Mulk Nasir became Mehtar (ruler) of Chitral in 1954 following the death of his father, Saifur Rehman at the age of just 4 year. He remained ruler of the state till it was abolished in 1969 under the Provisional Constitutional Order promulgated by then military dictator General Yahya Khan. The state was absorbed and fully integrated into the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and was made a district of Malakand Division.
In 1972, the ex ruler was inducted in Foreign Service of Pakistan. He served in various diplomatic position and retired e as Pakistan Consul-General in Hong Kong in 1989.
He was founder patron of Chitral Polo Assoc since 1957, Anjuman-e-Tariqe Khowar since 1960 and patron and guardian of The Ayubia Union. He had received Queen Elizabeth II Coron (2.6.1953) and Pakistan Republic (1956) medals.
HH Saif ul Mulk was a very nice soul as a person and possessed all the good qualities of a royal prodigy. He was a gentle, friendly and harmless human being. He donated hundreds of Kanals of his private land to homeless people.
His body will be brought to Chitral for burial in his ancestral grave yard adjacent to Shahi Masjid and Chitral Fort. His funeral prayer will be offered on Wednesday, October 19 in Chitral.
