Karachi: Pakistan’s Minister for Ports and Shipping Babar Ghauri has said that despite the global shipping industry facing dire crisis, Pakistan’s National Shipping Corporation was in a healthy state.
Talking to journalists after a meeting held regarding performance criteria of PNSC (Pakistan National Shipping Corporation) on Thursday, the federal minister also announced starting a cargo pump service in near future, after which PNSC would rank among few top global shipping corporations.
The directors of PNSC gave a detailed briefing to the minister about successful and profitable operations of the corporation, citing massive tax revenue for the national exchequer, over record profit earned by the corporations.
The minister was informed that PNSC had inducted six new ships in its fleet, previous year, which included four bulk carriers and two oil tankers.
He was also informed that the employees were also awarded handsome bonus, while shareholders would also be given about 10 percent profit on their equity, at the end of month.
Ghouri lauded the excellent performance of PNSC, and congratulated chairman, directors and employees of PNSC, for their superb performance.
