Karachi: After Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) re-joining of the PPP-led coalition government, the provincial government of Sindh is now facing another crisis, as serious differences among the coalition partners have emerged over shuffling and allotment of ministerial portfolios.
The MQM has joined the government with the condition that it would be given the same portfolios it ministers were holding before it parted ways with the government. However, after MQM departure, the PML-Q and PML-F had joined the provincial government and some of the portfolios, which were holding by MQM minister, were allotted to PML-Q and PML-F ministers.
Now, when the MQM rejoined the government, the PML-F and PML-Q are reluctant to relinquish the portfolios and some seven of the 14 MQM minister are without portfolios.
On Friday, ministers and advisors of PML-F called on Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and express their reservation about the planned shuffling of the cabinet.
Provincial Advisor Imtiaz Sheikh, who is a leader of PML-F, said that the withdrawal of portfolios from PML-F ministers was not justified under any pretext and it was not a good example of good governance.
“We are working for the welfare and betterment of the masses but this decision is really disappointing,” he added.
On the other hand, PML-F chief Pir Sahib Pagara while talking to journalists castigated the provincial government for it plan to shuffle the ministries. In his sarcastic style, Pagara asked the PPP that if he was very fond of reconciliation then it should cut its own ministers.
He said that as the moth of sacrifice was fast approaching the PPP should sacrifice some of its own ministries.
Meanwhile, sources in PML-Q Sindh said that they were not ready to returned the ministries its minister are holding currently.
