Karachi: Muttahida Qaumi Movement has finally rejoined the government, federal and provincial, announces Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan here on late Wednesday.
Addressing a late night press conference with Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah at Governor House, Governor Sindh said MQM has always supported the government, even it supported the government from outside.
He said MQM rejoined the after deep observation in the larger interest of masses. He said MQM always supported the politics of masses.
It is pertinent to mention here that MQM part its ways with Pakistan People’s Party after a rift over Azad jammu and Kashmir election two months earlier which claimed more than 300 lives.
Governor Sindh said that President Asif Ali Zardari called MQM chief Altaf Hussain in August and offered him to rejoin the government to resolve the challenges facing Pakistan.
He said MQM decided to rejoin the government after the president assured to resolve their demands because the alliance between both the parties was disturbed in the past owing to some misunderstandings.
He said MQM would continue its role to resolve the challenges, adding MQM’s federal and provincial minister would soon take the charges of their offices. He also said the load shedding would be minus within 24 hours.
He appreciated the efforts of President of Pakistan and PPP leadership in resolving the differences.
Meanwhile, CM Sindh said the country was facing big challenges but both the parties would continue proving relief to masses. He said reaming tenure of the government was very challenging and we have to work hard to resolve these challenges.
He said both the parties restored peace in Karachi with collective efforts. He said Supreme Court of Pakistan was investigating the issues of violence in Karachi.
When asked about Zulfiqar Mirza’s allegations against MQM, the CM said PPP leadership has already cleared that Mirza’s statements are not party policy.
It is important to mention here that, on July 27, MQM’s deputy parliamentary leader Farooq Sattar had said that it was the final decision of MQM and now MQM would not join PPP-led alliance because its leadership was incompetence and not willing to resolve public issues.Â
