Gaza: The Palestinian revolutionary movement of Hamas says the people of Palestine will not give an inch of their lands to Israel.
Democratically-elected Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh said on Sunday that resistance against the Israeli hostility is the key to achieving the rights of the Palestinian people, Press TV reported.
Haniyeh was of the view that Palestinians cannot achieve their goals through negotiations with Israel, adding that the people of Palestine “have not given up hope.”
He described the Israeli occupation as a major threat to the peace and security of the region.
Haniyeh called for the unity of Palestinian factions against Israeli aggression and said Hamas is ready to make any concession to achieve reconciliation.
Addressing the 5th Intifada Conference in Tehran through a video conference from Gaza Strip Haniyeh said, “We will do our best to free Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails.”
Referring to the 2006 war on the Gaza Strip, Haniyeh said that Israel “did not achieve its goals” in the 22-day war, adding that resistance can lead to the liberation of occupied al-Quds (Jerusalem).
Haniyeh made the remarks as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed on Saturday that he would try to win recognition of his regime as a “Jewish state.”
More than 100 countries have so far officially recognized Palestine as a sovereign state based on the pre-1967 borders.
