Lahore: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah has rejected the news of Shahbaz Taseer’s kidnappers demanding Rs 2 billion for his release, and has assured of his safe release.
During briefing session and a pre-session conference ahead of Punjab Assembly meeting, the minister refused to divulge any further information regarding progress in the case, due to the issue being highly sensitive.
He said that the murder of Salman Taseer was under investigation by courts since past seven months, but no leader of PPP ever bothered to assist, and after dumping Taseer family were concentrating on eking out political advantage out of Shahbaz Taseer’s abduction.
He also rejected the claim of Chaudhry Zaheeruddin made in a press conference that since 2009 to date there had been 33,000 cases of kidnappings for ransom, cautioning that deliberate misquoting of facts and figures was an ethical and punishable offence.
