Islamabad: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Wednesday approved an increase of Rs. 2.4 per unit price of electricity.
Nepra sources said that the hike was approved under monthly fuel adjustment while the raise will be applicable to all the consumers except those of the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC).
The application for permission of the increase was received from the nine power distribution companies through the Central Power Purchasing Agency and the application hearing was headed by the Nepra chairman.
The source said there was an increase in the prices of the furnace oil in the international markets and 40 per cent of the electricity was produced using the furnace oil.
