Peshawar: Awami National Party (ANP) would decide on August 28 about its Sindh chapter’s request to quit government.
ANP Information Secretary Zahid Khan confirmed to a news agency that meeting of the party’s consultative body had been called to consider the situation in Sindh and the overall political scenario in the country.
The body would meet under leadership of Asfandyar Wali in Peshawar to deliberate on important issues in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other parts of the country.
Sources said that the party’s chapter in Sindh was seeking permission of the central leadership of the party to part ways with the government in Sindh.
“But we clearly told them that we cannot decide it, the decision would be taken by consultative body or central executive committee,” sources quoted ANP leaders as saying.
ANP Sindh President Shahi Syed had sought a go-ahead from the central leadership to part ways with the government after it was ignored while reverting to the local government system.
A couple of days ago Acting Central President of ANP Bushra Gohar had called in emergency meeting at the Parliament House endorsing the position taken by the party’s Sindh chapter.
