Karachi: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz senior leader Syed Ghous Ali Shah has said that attempts were being made to technically knock out him from the party, accusing the ‘Punjab Group’ of hatching conspiracies against him and trying to weaken the party in Sindh.
Ghous Ali Shah told The News Tribe during in an interview, that ‘Punjab group’ in the party was trying to weaken PML-N in Sindh.
It is to be mentioned here that Shah had developed sharp differences with the party leadership after the recently held party’s central elections, wherein he was elected as senior vice president.
Sources said that Shah was a candidate for the post of provincial president of Sindh, but he was elected as central vice president of the party against his consent.
During the interview, Ghous Ali Shah confirmed his differences with the party leadership. He said that PML-N was a major party and differences in the ranks of such party was not an unusual thing. “ Yes, I have difference with party leadership on certain issues and trying to settle these issues at party level,” Shah said.
When asked about the nature of the differences, he said that the differences first cropped up when no one of those whose names were proposed by him for Federal Council of the party were accommodated. This caused frustration and annoyance among party workers in Sindh, he added. “I am under severe pressure of party workers and they are asking me to quit,” he added, saying he was trying to calm down them. He accused ‘Punjab Group’ in the party of trying to weaken the party and hatching conspiracies against him.
When asked whether Ch. Shujaat contacted him after his recent differences with the party leadership, he confirmed that Shujaat and Mushahid Hussain contacted him but that was nothing to do with his differences with party leadership.
He clarified that they wanted him to persuade Mian Nawaz Sharif to play his role for restoration of peace in Karachi.
