Karachi: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon has said that Local Body System 2001 was being restored in across Sindh, media reported late Sunday.
Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has signed the bill to restore the previous local body ordinance throughout the province instead of Karachi and Hyderabad alone which was decided yesterday after Pakistan People’s Party and Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s leadership meeting.
Memon informed media persons that Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad would announce the ordinance soon.
It is pertinent to mention here that Sindh’s nationalist parties had strongly condemned the restoration of local body ordinance in two cities of the province, saying how it was possible that two systems were being implemented in one province.
Meanwhile, ANP also condemned the ‘overnight’ decision of PPP-MQM. ANP Sindh President Shahi Syed said that his party was not taken into confidence.
