Kandy: An explosive century by skipper TM Dilshan helped Sri Lanka defeat Australia in their first T20 game by 35 runs at Pallekele Stadium on Saturday. Sri Lanka scored 198, which also included 30 from Sangakara and 29 from BMAJ Mendis.
Australia managed only 163 from their 20 overs, losing eight wickets. Warner top scored with 53. Mitchell Johnson and O’Keefe were the other notable scorers with 22 each.
Dilshan was declared the man of the match.
Three Sri Lankan players, Herath, Prasad and Perera, made their T20 debut in the match.
They play second T20 game at the same ground on August 8.
