Karachi: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has decided to rejoin the federal government and arrangements are being finalized by the government to bring the Karachi-based party to ruling coalition, sources said on Monday.
The sources said that the MQM had decided that, it would join the PP-government in Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) in the first phase. They added that MQM’s member of AJK legislative assembly Saleem Butt would take charge of a ministry on August 2.
They said, in the second phase, the MQM Sindh assembly members would join the Sindh government.
While in the final phase the party would jump in to the band wagon of the federal government.
Sources privy to the matter told The News Tribe that Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has played a great role in persuading the MQM to rejoin the government. They said that the premier contacted MQM supremo Altaf Hssain and urged him to come back in the ruling coalition.
The sources said that a meeting of the MQM’s coordination committee would be held simultaneously in London and Karachi to finalize the arrangement in this regard.
