Islamabad: The Supreme Court on Wednesday took notice of the relegation of Establishment Secretary Sohail Ahmed Khan by the government in punishment for complying with the court orders.
A six-member bench of the SC headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing Haj corruption case. The CJ remarked why the secretary was made ‘Officer on Special Duty’(OSD), a sinecure post, after he complied with the court orders by submitting notification in the SC to bring back IG Gilgit Baltistan Hussain Asghar to the FIA to hold investigation into the Haj scam. The CJ directed the Attorney Gen Mauli Anwarul Haq to hold discussion with the Chief Executive regarding the issue and inform the court in few hours.
Moreover, the CJ reprimanded the FIA chief Tehseen Anwar Shah for not appearing before the court despite being summoned time and again.
