Islamabad: The government on Tuesday reinstated Hussain Asghar in the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to conduct Haj scam probe after the Supreme Court of Pakistan threatened the Establishment Division Secretary that he would be jailed if the notification, reinstating Asghar was not issued.
A six-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry while hearing the Haj scam case asked Establishment Division Secretary Sohail Ahmed to issued the notification, bringing Hussain Asghar back in the FIA to conduct the probe into the scam, which involves high profile personalities in the government. The SC summoned FIA chief Tehseen Anwar Shah and Hussain Asghar on Wednesday and adjourned the hearing.
The government posted Hussain Asghar as Inspector General Police in Gilgit Baltistan after he showed better performance in probing Haj scam. The government turned deaf ears to the SC’s orders regarding reinstatement of Asghar in the FIA time and again.
