Islamabad: Pakistan’s inactive Defence Minister Chaudhary Ahmed Mukhtar has said that Pakistan could not stand against its rival India if both the countries fought a war.
He revealed this while giving an interview to BBC, the defence minister said that Pakistan’s military might was half that of Indian military. Pakistan does not have the capacity to fight a war with India for 45 days, he added.
When asked that Pakistan considered India as bigge threat, he said both the countries have fought war in the past but now India has upgraded its military’s weapons and quantity.
Mukhtar said that May 02 incident when Osama bin Laden was killed by US special commandos was not a security failure. He disclosed that the Pakistani government knew where the Taliban were. It was not difficult to trace and contact them, he said.
While answering a question about peace negotiation with the Taliban, he said they (The Taliban) goes to Saudi Arabia and other Middle East countries for peace talks. Pakistan’s religious parties have also contacts with Taliban leadership, he said, added that, similarly such peace negotiations reached to government of Pakistan after maturity.
He said Abottabad operation was made possible by United States’ modern technology, not because of Pakistani security forces failure. He said Pakistan was could not fight against US’ technology.
