Muzaffarabad/ Islamabad: Some 2.9 million Kashmiris are casting vote to elect a new legislative assembly. There are 391 candidates contesting for 38 seats after the polls cancellation in LA-30, 36 and 41.
The polling started at 8am this morning and will continue till 5pm without any interval.
The legislative assembly of AJK consists of 49 seats: 41 general seats, 8 reserved seats.
The Muzaffarabad High court on Saturday ordered the Election Commission to postpone election on the constituencies LA-30, LA36 and LA-41 .
Unofficial vote count has begun to come out in Azad Jammu Kashmir elections.
Polls in LA37-Lahore Valley 2 cancelled
Azad Jammu Kashmir Election Commission has cancelled the polls for LA37-Lahore Valley 2, sources said.
Ghulam Abbas Mahar of Muslim League-N, Ghulam Mohiuddin of PPP and Ghulam Qadir of Muslim Conference were contesting this seat.

On Sunday Some 2.9 million voters will use their political right for 38 seats .
Though various political parties are contesting the elections but the real contest is expected between the Pakistan People’s Party, AJK’s ruling Muslim Conference and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz while Independent candidates would also play crucial role in the election.
According to The News Tribe correspondents, tension erupted in various areas after the firing incidents on political candidates in Nakyal and Muzaffarabad areas.
All arrangements have been finalized and voting boxes and relevant facilities have also been provided. Security arrangements have also been completed.
It is being expected that numbers of voters would caste their votes in the morning time following the decision of Election Commission of Azad Kashmir that people without permanent address of AJK can caste their votes. The voting would be start on 8:00am (local time) and will be continued till 5:00pm.
Secretary Election Commission AJK said that security situation in Muzaffarabad and Kotli divisions could not be declared comfortable.
For Sunday’s voting some 14,351 polling booths have been installed. Out of them 1,000 polling station would be declared sensitive.
