Islamabad: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Nawaz Sharif has said that Defence budget should be discussed in the Parliament and theĀ military spending should not be hidden.
Speaking at a reference held in the memory of late journalist Saleem Shehzad the former prime minister said most of the countries present their military spending in the parliament and it is not a rare case.
“We do not want to degrade any institution instead we want to give them respect”Ā he added.
Nawaz while condemning the killingĀ of Shehzad said that it had been routine matter in the country and several people including journalists and politicians were subjected to torture”Ā come hell or high water we will not allow such things to beĀ happened in the future.He added. “I had asked President Zardari to bring the elements to book who abducted journalist Shafqat Cheema” Nawaz added.
The PML-N chief said why the prime minister did not constitute a probe commissionĀ into Shehzad’s killing.
He recalled that corps commander of Pervez Musharraf were not aware of Kargil operation.”Ā he added that Musharraf wasĀ givenĀ guard of honour by the incumbant government.
He said that influence of military to the country’s foreign policy should be brought to an end.
Nawaz also condemned the extra judicial killing of a youth in Karachi by the Rangers.
