Karachi: A massive protest demonstration was held outside Chief Minister House in Karachi, the eastern city of Pakistan, following the killing of a youth by Sindh Rangers’ officials in an alleged encounter on Wednesday evening.
Rangers personnel deployed at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Park near Boat Basin area of Clifton, killed a youth Sarfraz Shah, claiming the youth was looting a family inside the park and was killed after an encounter.
Later, video aired by local media showed that Sarfraz had no weapon even a single stick in his hand and was requesting mercy before the officials but Rangers officials did not pay heed and killed him in a fake encounter.
Rangers hi-ups when contacted soon after the incident they claimed that they recovered a TT-pistol and snatched valuables from Sarfraz. But when contacted again after airing the video of the fake encounter they did not respond.
Sarfraz Shah was brother of local journalist. Relatives of Sarfraz said that Sarfraz had never been involved in any crime. They said Sarfraz was a very good character guy. Sarfraz was studying in class X.
Wednesday’s brutality is not a single case when security forces killing people in fake encounter. Earlier this month on May 17, Frontier Constabulary personnel killed five Chechens in Kharotabad area of Quessta, capital of Pakistan’s Western province’.
FC officials declared them suicide members but later video tape showed that they were innocent and requesting mercy for their lives.
Boat Basin police have been registered an FIR No 227/2011 and claimed to have arrested all two Rangers personnel who were involved in the incident.
Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik took the notice of the incident and assured that strict action would be taken against involved personnel. He directed judicial inquiry of the incident.
Spokesman Sindh Rangers also ensured that action would be taken against involved Rangers cops.
Journalist community severely condemned the incident and demanded strict action against involved Rangers personnel.
