Bannu: District President, Awami National Party (ANP) was gunned down in an attack in Bannu District of Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa province of Pakistan on late Tuesday night.
According to The News Tribe correspondent, unidentified armed assailants sprayed the vehicle of Israel Khan Wazir (President ANP, Bannu District) with bullets when he was on his way to his hometown Dawood Shah village from Bannu. The attackers fled after swift operation.
As a result, Israel Khan along with his gunman and driver died on the spot. Identities of the driver and the gunman were not released immediately.
The bodies were taken to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Security forces rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area to trace the assailants.
No one has yet claimed the responsibility of the attack.
Security forces and ANP officials were the main targets of militants in Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa province.
