Peshawar: At least 17 people were killed and several others injured in a US drone strike in northwest Pakista’s tribal region near Afghan border on Monday.
Sources said that the attack took place inĀ Wana district of South Waziristan.
The sources said that US drone fired fourĀ missiles at a house and religious seminary .
The attack came just three days after a US drone strike reportedly killed a senior al Qaeda commander Ilyas Kashmiri.
Sources in the area said that at least seven seminary students were killed when the unmanned aircraft fired two missiles.
A security official confirmed the strike and toll but said āthe identities of those killed in the strike were not immediately knownā.
The site of the latest attack was around 10 kilometers south of the Ghwakhwa area where Ilyas Kashmiri was reported killed.
