Karachi: At least 21 people were injured in hand grenade blasts in Karachi, the southern city of Pakistan, on late Friday night, rescue sources said.
According to eye witness, unidentified person riding two to three bikes threw several hand grenades at a hotel in Thokhar Street on Napier Road, the old city area of Liyari, Karachi. As a result 21 people were injured in the blasts.
Napier Road is considered one of the Karachi’s busiest areas.Napier Road is also famous for red light business.
The injured were rushed to Civil Hospital Karachi and Liaqual National Hospital for treatment. Identities of the injured were not released immediately.
Hospital sources said that three of the injured were in critical situation.
Police and Rangers rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. Bomb disposal squad of Karachi police also reached the spot and collected evidences.
According to initial interrogation home made hand grenades were used in the blasts.
Panic gripped the area and all the shops were opened late in the day due to strike to express solidarity with KESC employees have been shut.
It is pertinent to mention here that two blasts were carried out in Liyari Town some time back, left dozens of people dead and hundreds others injured.
Sindh Health Minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed imposed medical emergency in CHK and ordered all the staff to reach on their duties without any late.
