Karachi: Following to the Friday’s strike of Awami National Party (ANP) Sindh in solidarity with KESC employees, severe unrest and agitation erupted in Karachi, the financial hub of Pakistan.
Differences between administration and employees of Karachi Electric Supply Corporation have been terrifying.
Unidentified miscreants attacked police station, grid station and power house, set various vehicles on fire. Over dozens people were also injured in separate shooting incidents in the metropolis.
According to KESC spokesman, various areas of the metropolis plunged into darkness as over dozen miscreant ambushed Clifton grid station, causing closure of 27 feeders.
Shireen Jinnah Colony, Kemari, Defence and Clifton, among various other areas got affected owing to the closure of feeders while electricity supply to Bilawal House and Ziauddin Hospital also got suspended, The News Tribe correspondent reported.
Sources said that several vehicles of KESC were also attacked in various areas.
The spokesman also said that over 100 armed men attacked Korangi power house and stopped night shift employees from entering the power house.
Meanwhile, more than two dozen assailants ambushed Bahadurabad Police Station. The attackers fled when police opened fire in return.
Four vehicles including three buses and a corolla car have been torched in different areas. Ariel firing incidents were also reported in different areas.
Panic gripped the city and residents of the economic seaport city of Pakistan were compelled to stay inside.
Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan took notice of the attacks on police station and power stations and ordered police and rangers to rush the spot and control the situation.
Police and Rangers personnel have started flag march in various areas so as to control any untoward incidents of the city.
