Karachi: The terrorists who launched audacious attack on the PNS Mehran on Sunday night fired more than 1100 bullets, using sophisticated weapons that includes Kalashnikovs, 222 Rifles and LMGs , sources said on Wednesday.
A source privy to the investigations told that 29 bullet casings of LMG, 860 of Kalashnikov and 160 of 222 Rifles were found in the base while two hand-grenades and four Kalashnikov were also found.
The source said that the terrorists also fired seven rockets during the 18 hours long attack on the Pakistan’s main naval airbase.
A private television reported that the investigation team led by a naval intelligence officer has expanded the probe to all the staff of the naval facility to ascertain if any official made a phone call to any one out side the base.
It further said that the investigators have also detained some residents of adjacent areas who belong to a certain school of thought.
The TV report said terrorists were constantly in touch with their commander via wireless phone during the attack as walkie talkie phones were also found near their bodies.
Meanwhile Abbdul Sattar Edhi, an activist who gave bath to the terrorists’ body in a city morgue, has claimed to identify their nationalities. He claimed that the attackers were Seraiki’s , who usually belongs to southern Punjab.
