Karachi: Police have refused a request made by Pakistan navy to cut the number of terrorists in the FIR lodged in Shahrah-e-Faisal Police Station, sources said on Wednesday.
Navy officials had put the number of terrorists at 12 in the FIR, contrary to the statements of interior minister Rehman Malik and Naval Chief Admiral Noman Bashir said that four to six militants were involved in assault on Pakistan Naval Station (PNS) Mehran on weekend, drawing criticism form the security and media analysts.
Sources said that the navy authorities met senior police officials to change the numbers but to no avail as the police categorically refused to the request.
Legal experts say any change in the FIR will benefit the accused.
