Islamabad: Pakistan’s Defence Committee of the Cabinet unanimously approved all kind of measures to destroy all hideout of terrorists from across the country.
The DCC meeting chaired by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani was held in Islamabad. The meeting was attended by federal interior and finance ministers and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar.
The meeting reviewed the security situation in context to the terrorist attack on the Pakistan Naval Station (PNS) Mehran in Karachi. It was decided in the meeting that security, defence and law enforcement agencies will be authorized to use all means, necessary to eradicate terrorists and militants.
It was decided in the meeting that national security is the utmost priority and all arms of the government will ensure that terrorists dens will be destroyed, using all appropriate means. It was also decided that the DCC will continue to meet regularly to develop further, update and closely monitor implementation of the counter-terrorism strategy.
Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee General Khalid Shameem Wynne, Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Director General Inter-Services Intelligence Lt Gen Ahmed Shuja Pasha, Finance Secretary, Foreign Secretary and Cabinet Secretary were also present in the meeting.
