Islamabad: Owing to severe financial crises, the Pakistan Railways has refused to provide traveling facilities in their expenditures to parliamentary committees.
According to National Assembly documents, Chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee for Railways Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has summoned a meeting in Lahore asking the Chairman Railways to provide five-star facilities to the members.
The Railways officials informed all the committee members in a letter with number No. G and C/2008-SCM/1(NA) that they could not facilitated them due to severe financial crises. However, the officials agreed to provide the traveling facilities to the committee members.
Sources said that the two-day meeting of the committee would approve the fiscal-budget of 2011-12 for the Railways. In the meantime, the committee will be briefed on the new projects including purchasing of new bogies and engines. It is vital to mention here that Railways beard the expenditures of all the meetings based outside Islamabad.
