Islamabad: Pakistan has expressed ‘serious reservations’ over the unilateral US special forces’ operation inside the county, saying that any such operation in future could threatened the bilateral cooperation between the two allies in the war against terrorism.
Sources told The News Tribe that on Tuesday top military and civilian leadership of the country held series of meetings and discussed various aspects of the late Sunday night’s raid by US special forces on a compound in Abbottabad, wherein al-Qaeda Leader Osama bin Laden was killed.
They said though the military and political leadership observed the killing of Osama was a major development against war on terror, but they were unanimous that such a unilateral operation should not be made a role model in future.
The meetings decided it would be made crystal clear to US that any such action in future inside Pakistan could put in danger the ongoing cooperation between the two countries in war against terrorism.
The sources claimed that Pakistan had decided the family members of Osama detained by Pakistan military after the Sunday night’s raid would not be handed over to US.
The top military and civilian leadership also discussed as how to respond to the various questions being raised about Pakistan and its role in war against terrorism following Osama’s killing in a garrison city just 60 miles away from the capital of the country.
