Karachi: At least eight people including two activists of an outfit organisation were killed in different firing incidents in Karachi, the financial hub of Pakistan, on Thursday, police said.
Superintendent of Police Aamir Faroqui has said that two activist of an outfit organisation were killed in Manzoor Colony area within the limits of Mehmoodabad Police Station. He said the assailants managed to escape from the scene.
While, a duty officer at Mehmoodabad Police Station said that unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate firing near Gujjar Chowk in Manzoor Colony.
As a result Kamran 35 and Khalid 30 sons of Mohammad Iqbal received bullet injuries and died on their way to hospital. The victims were the resident of same area.
The bodies were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center for medico-legal formalities.
A man was shot dead near a hospital in Clifton area. The body has been shifting to a nearby hospital. The identity of the deceased is yet to be known.
A woman was shot dead in the limits of Pakistan Bazaar Police Station in Orangi Town.
An official at the police station Mohammad Hanif said unidentified armed assailants open firing on a woman in sector 11-B area of Orangi Town, resultantly she died on the spot.
The body was shifted to the Abbassi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico-legal formalitiesÛ” The identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained.
Two men were found in Surjani Town in the limits of Surjani Police Station.
SHO Surjani Town Mussadiq Rafiq said that the two bullet-riddled bodies were recovered from Gulshan-e-Surjani, Block-D area of Surjani Town.
The bodies were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. The identities of the deceased were yet to be known.
A trader was found dead in the limits of Napier Police Stations.
A bullet riddled body of a trader was found from Mehmood Shah Road near Rehmania Mosque. The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.
The victim was identified as Zubair Memon alias Bobi son of Abdul Razzak a trader of fish, resident of Moosa Lane area of Lyari Town.
Spokesman to Katchi Rabit Committee representative of Kachti Community claimed that the victim belonged to their party.
He said that the extortionists have demanded extortion money from him and they kidnapped him while going to fishery in the wee hours of Thursday and later killed him. He condemned the killing and demanded early arrest of the killers.
An official at Napier Police Station said that the victim was missing since morning and unidentified men after killing him in unknown place threw his body on Mehmood Shah Road.
Separately, Azizabad Police recovered a body of a young man from a sewerage drain in Azizabad number II. The body was shifted to the Abbassi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities where the victim was identified as Kashif son of Ahmad.
