Karachi: At least 13 people have been killed in different part of Karachi, the financial hub of Pakistan, in separate shooting incidents within last 24 hours, police and rescue sources said. Out of them six were killed in Orangi Town alone.
Two people were shot dead in Orangi Town No 10 when unidentified armed men sprayed them with bullets and fled.
The deceased were identified as Raza Idrees and Sarfraz.
The bodies were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for postmortem examination.
Rescues sources said that two people were killed near Old Sabzi Mandi area when unidentified armed men opened fire on Wednesday late night and shot dead two people and fled.
One man was shot dead near Saba Cinema in New Karachi area.
Three activists of Muttahida Qaumi Movement were killed while another one was wounded in a shooting incident in Karachi, the southern city of Pakistan, police said.
The police said unidentified armed assailants opened indiscriminate firing on the people sitting at Mahajir Chowk in Orangi Town. As a result three people received severe bullet injuries and dies on the spot while another one sustained injuries.
However, the assailants managed to escape from the scene.
SP Khurram Waris said all of the deceased and injured were the activists of MQM.
The victims were identified as Waqas, 40; Habib, 35 and Zaheer 30 while the injured was identified Irfan.
The deceased and injured were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment and autopsies.
Heavy contingent of police and rangers rushed to the spot and started search operation to trace the killers.
MQM Chief Altaf Hussain strongly condemned the killing of his party workers and demanded that arrest the killers and bring them before justice.
A man was killed by firing in a clash between two groups in Mominabad within the limits of Pirabad Police Station, police said.
A duty officer at Mominabad Police Station said that two groups fought in Faqeer Colony, Mominabad area. He said during the fight accused Fahim opened fire on Abdul Wahid 25 son of Mohammad. As a result he died on the spot.
The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico-legal formalities.
The police have registered an FIR and started investigation.
A female schoolteacher was shot dead in Pehlwan Goth in the limits of Gulistan-e-Jauhar Police Station, police said.
Police said that unidentified armed men driving a car intercepted another car bearing registration number ARE-284 near Sunehri Apartments in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area and opened fire. As a result, a woman received bullets injuries and died on the spot.
The victim was, later, identified as Sana Zohra, daughter of Zaffar Zaidi, resident of Block 18 Gulistan-e-Jauhar. She was teacher at a private school and was killed when was returning home from school. No case was registered till filing this report.
Two people were shot dead in Ayub Goth in the limits of Suhrab Goth Police Station, police said.
Police Post In-Charge of Ayub Goth, Muharram Ali said that unidentified armed men opened fire on Hazrat Ali, 30 son of Ghulam Rasool near his home in Ayub Goth area. As a result he died on the spot.
In another incident Shehbaz Ali alias Shabo son of Abdul Latif was killed by unidentified armed men in the same area. He was the resident of New Karachi area.
The bodies were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
A man was shot dead in Baghdadi on, police said.
ASI Noor-ul-Wahab said that unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire on Irfan, 45 son of Ghulam Abbas in Bolan Hotel Street in Baghdadi area. As a result he received bullet injuries and died on the spot.
The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities. No case could be registered till filing this report.
The victims were identified as Waqas, 40 son of Tariq, Habib, 35 son of Rafiq and Zaheer, 30 son of Mohammad Hanif, while injured was identified as Irfan son of Bundo Khan.
